Muscles tighten through daily use and overuse and injury causes musculoskeletal pain and reduction in flexibility. Today, everyone knows massage can greatly help with all of that. But what about chronic pain and trigger points? Is massage the best way to deal with those issues?
As you know there are numerous benefits of stretching, including keeping your muscles flexible and healthy. Did you know that regular stretching can:
Improve your breathing and circulation
Reduce and eliminate trigger points
Increase range of movement in your joints
Help you feel more energetic
Move and use your body more efficiently
Reduce stiffness and aches
The reason older folks fall and break bones is not just because of osteoperodic bones. Flexibility and core strength are necessary to keep the aging body healthy and able to balance.
You wake up stiff and aching every day.
You have consistent pain in one area of your body.
You never got your full range of motion back after injury or surgery.
Your hips (shoulders, etc.) are always out of alignment, and you have to see a chiropractor twice a week to stay on top of it.
You want to play golf/tennis/jog/ do something again, but pain is preventing you.
You have a "ghost pain" that no one can explain but it feels better if you move in a certain way?
You are hunched over your desk or on your feet all day.
You need natural pain relief and muscle tension relieving endorphins to enhance your life.
I first met Tammy while working for a national stretch chain. She was assigned to me and while everyone was busy talking to me about what was going on with her and what they thought she needed, I just smiled at her, asked permission to touch her, and started exploring her upper body. I did one, well placed stretch and her eyes opened wide. She smiled back and me and immediately told the crowd around us that everything was going to be just fine and to leave us alone. We've been working with each other twice a week since that very day.
